Teenage Techno Punks are a young techno DJ duo from Belgrade, formed by Marko Nastić and Dejan Milićević. Both have been interested in DJing since the beginning of 1995, when they started collecting their first vinyls. Marko spent most of his time in that period practising in the famous Lale's Happy People shop, where numerous Belgrade enthusiasts used to gather. His first gigs were at Happy People parties, spinning records in the clubs Omen and Magna House. His first gig in the best-known techno club in Belgrade, Industria, was in March 1997, at the Lords of Acid party, together with Gordan Paunović, Banyan and Mr. P. He still plays at Happy People parties, although most of his gigs are now under the TTP name.
Dejan Milićević also had his first sets in Omen and Magna House. His first bigger gig was together with Boža Podunavac at the DTT:NYC:CHI party (January 1997), and soon after that he became a resident DJ at these parties in Industria. Their friendship led them to start working on parties together in December 1996 (Magna House club). Soon they were booked for numerous parties in Belgrade and across Serbia and Macedonia (Skopje, Niš, Kruševac, Novi Sad, Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Kula, Inđija, Banja Luka, Negotin...). They were christened on April 5th 1997 at the Kozmik Attack party, where they worked together with Eric Powell, Boža Podunavac and Vlada Janjić. Since then they have been known as Teenage Techno Punks (thanks to Gordan Paunović)! Within a month they were in second place in the votes of Industria's visitors (after Boža Podunavac). Their sudden success was followed by ever better attendance at their parties and by a few DJ sets on Belgrade radio stations (B92, YuRadio, Studio B, Radio Roda). At the end of 1997, at the traditional Radio B92 Ritam Herca annual awards, the TTP duo took the award for the best YU DJ. Besides Industria and Omen they also play at the club Underground and, of course, Barutana. At the YU Fashion Week they provided the music for the Proković sisters' designs. The fact that they had more than 110 bookings in 1997 is certainly impressive! Among the bigger parties, they have worked with Charlie Hall, Eric Powell, Daz Sound, Misjah, Mark E.G., Fred Giteau... These days (October 1998) they are getting ready for the opening of the club Industria. They are residents at Omen (Tuesdays) and at the club Underground (Thursdays). On October 17th, in cooperation with Gordan Paunović and the Rex Cinema, a party was held that will be the first in a series of parties to follow. At these matinees (17:00-22:00), besides high-quality minimal techno, people can watch bizarre videos such as manga porn, trash films, and domestic and some foreign skate and in-line skate films, whose participants are also regular visitors at these parties.
Planned guests at these parties include Lale, Boris Simov, Miloš Pavlović, Petko, Boža Podunavac and some guys from Block 64. As at the previous party, there will again be three turntables, and the novelty will be an MC, drums and bass guitar! TTP plan to gather a large number of young people and to protect their work and interests, as the parties give them a chance to show their creativity to others. By the end of November 1998 they plan to release a mixed tape and CD, which will be available through the YuTechno website. As for collaboration with other artists, they are keeping an eye on Urgh! and HeadStream, both bands from Belgrade. TTP owe great thanks to the Belgrade audience for following and supporting them for a long time. Special thanks go to Gordan Paunović, Boža Podunavac, Vladislav Tomanić, Lale and the parents who have not supported us. :)
