Gordan Paunović / DJ Manic

Ever present and ever strongly opinionated (his catchphrase was “uncompromising”), Gordan has been the godfather of the Serbian techno/house scene.

A founding member of Radio B92 in 1989, he served as its music editor from 1993 to 1999. In autumn 1994, together with fellow B92 editors Vlada Janjić and Boža Podunavac, he founded Kozmik Communications, which brought international DJs such as Colin Faver, Billy Nasty, Misjah and Hell to Belgrade. He edited and hosted Spin, B92’s weekly techno, house and drum’n’bass show, and played at Industria and other Belgrade clubs.

In 1999 he became head of internet events at FreeB92. As a music and pop-culture analyst and journalist, he has written for The Wire and Index on Censorship (UK) and for XZ and Ritam (Yugoslavia), among others.
