Fresh news:

Cosmic Sounds are going to publish a new compilation of yu funk & clubby music - Belgrade's Burning! Due August/September.   Less fresh news:

We had a very succesful gig in Club Fest somewhere during July.

Note: this is a very old text. :)
As you may know, we are musicians from Yugoslavia, or to be more precise, from Belgrade (the capital). The techno and electronica music scene is quite undevelopped but we strive hard to make it better and prosperous. Some good bands and projects, people like us, Boris Petrovic, Noise Destruction, Velja Mijanovic and Vukan Stojanovic, in combination with major organisers like Kozmik Communications, keep the scene alive and rich in variations. It is relatively hard to become famous, as the main part of the population does not even accept techno as music. But that doesn't stop enthousiastic people to fill up clubs and have an excellent time =). Often you can even see older people having fun at techno parties.

Anyway, how the heck did we get into all that mess?

Like any historical event, it began some time in the past... in september 1995, actually. One night there were Rastko and Borko making some music and it sounded good. So we decided to make a project. But, such a project lacked a good name. We came up with name "Linear DRAFt", because it suited linear progression, and the atmosphere that music had had... Well... Let`s be honest, the meaning of these two words combined in one phrase was not quite explainable to us. =]]] But, it`s cool, you can`t deny that. Anyway, recently we learned that words "linear draft" actually meant something - it's the sort of strike in baseball. So, maybe we don't play baseball, but we play other stuff, like music.
So it flowed like that for some time, and another night my friend Srba dropped in and started producing some interesting sounds on the computer. That`s when he was pulled into the DRAFt. The last member of "Linear DRAFt" was found in "Blue Cordon" disco club, the place where students stood against the police force. It happened a few seconds before the cordon was broken (after 10 days), Istok and Borko met and found that they were both making music, and decided to work together. Well... You can hear the outcome... and take a peek to the picture gallery to see us in action =).
But, what kind of music do we exactly make? We don`t think it`s important to call some music techno, house, ambient, whatever. The important thing is that it sounds good, not that it is of a specific genre. What we do is electronica. It comes out of a computer, or a couple of them. But do not think that that is a limit. On the contrary, that`s where infinity begins... So... Give it a Real(Player) spin and hear it for yourself. It's not for anything that JukeBox stands for.
Our equipment is a bit modest (only lately we had managed to get a grip on some serious pieces of equipment) , but that doesn`t stop us from making good music. Of course, if you liked it, and have some synths or keyboards that are just taking up space in your home, you can feel free to send it to us. Openminded people like us will always find some room for it. =))) And, remember:
<<here should stay some amazing finishing sentence>>

Since our first gig in club Plima somewhere during April of 1998, we had numerous PA's (or: Public Appearances) in various places, including:
  • Industria (starting with April 24, 1998)
  • Barutana (Urbabar) on Kalemegdan
  • Paradiso in Novi Sad (on Belgrade: ICWT promo tour)
  • Plima
  • Omen
  • Fest
  • Mondo
  • Kolos
We are proud to say that many of our tunes reached top-places on radio stations such as Radio B92, Studio B and Politika.
Also, we have participated on three compilations: on Artefact #1 with a drum'n'bass tune Sunrise; on Belgrade: In Clubbing We Trust (Published by HMK music) with a jazzy house groove Sunday. As far as we know, Belgrade: ICWT is sold in shops throughout Europe (especially Hungary and Austria), but Artefact #1 can be physically bought only here (or ordered by mail from the publishers, good friends of ours). As for the third one, it's the Utopia 4: Belgrade Coffee Shop (Published by Free B92) featuring the tune Sila.
Our tune Recycle was used to accompany a graphics design expo - PE-LD - that was held in Paviljon Veljkovic last year, organized by ICPS.
As for remixing, we have done a (modest, but steady growing, though) number of remixes for local artists such as Darkwood Dub (a breakbeat remix of a tune Strategija Bumerang and a deep jazzy house remix of Sila) and Pyc (Positive Vibe - house remix of drum'n'bass tune Test the Taste).
To this we may now add a fresh, funky-house remix for Catwalk (take a sneak preview), a house tune made by Deeper Ends (Coba, Acim, Vukan). Whether it will be vinyled, remains to be seen.

No music is currently available. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Here are some shots from two gigs of ours: in Fest (took place last year - but better late than never O:) ) and on Kolos (on June 17). Enjoy!
